About
I started this blog in August 2008, and at that time, I’d been training for about a year in Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Now, I was head-over-heels in love with both of them–so much so, in fact, that it really only seemed like a matter of time before I was going to have at least one Muay Thai fight under my belt.
Being a clever boy, I thought, “Hey, why not start up a blog to talk about my training?”
And so Boards Don’t Hit Back was born.
Of course, a week after starting the blog, I was accepted into the VCU Brandcenter.
Goodbye, old life.
I couldn’t train nearly as much, my skills started to erode a little bit, and I was eating, drinking, and sleeping advertising.
I still train from time to time, and I’ll still occasionally post about fighting; right now, in fact, I’m working on a documentary about chessboxing.
The more I was immersed in advertising, the more I realized that it’s pretty damn similar to the martial arts: both require creativity, patience, a sense of humor, an open mind, a strong work ethic, and a high tolerance for pain.
